ISKANDAR PUTRI: The Johor state government today introduced premium packages under its WiFi initiative to cater to the needs of Internet users in urban and rural areas of the state.
The pre-paid premium packages are an upgrade over the existing free WiFi service, ensuring people's demand for high-speed Internet is met.
State Public Works, Rural and Regional Development Committee chairman Datuk Hasni Mohammad said there were over 600,000 registered users recorded since the free WiFi service was introduced in 2015.
"We target for at at least half of them to use this premium service based on their Internet usage trends, so this is another option for users who want higher-speed Internet.
"The (premium) service will have two packages, namely RM5 and RM10, where the RM5 package will give access to Internet at two megabit per second (Mbps) speed for three days, while the RM10 package will also give the same speed for a week, but with no quota or limit," he told reporters after launching the new packages in conjunction with the Johor Berkemajuan Expo in Kota Iskandar here, tonight. — Bernama
