DIVERSITY is a much raised issue in fashion, often reflects well in fashion imaging but not so much on the products itself. Japanese basics magnate Uniqlo scored themself a feature as part of ‘Items: Is Fashion Modern?’ exhibition by The Museum of Modern Art. Entitled Emancipation/Modesty/Rebellion emphasises on the correlation between fashion and sociocultural affairs, which puts 111 influential garments and accessories from the past century in spotlights that have made it’s mark on the course of history of fashion. MoMA’s first exhibition on fashion since 1994 has proudly chosen garments from Hana Tajima for UNIQLO collection, namely the AIRism Printed Stole and Inner Hijab to be included. Focuses on flared silhouettes, fashion designer Hana Tajima’s collection are effortless chic poised in graceful elegance, employed using AIRism for a breathable fabric. Staying true to Uniqlo’s commitment, they have successfully capitalised the diverse lifestyle and cultural framework by representing the Muslim communities through modest wear. Exhibition happening from Oct 1 to Jan 28, 2018.
