Police arrest fourth suspects over rape of 14-year-old Lawas girl

    MIRI: Police have arrested a 29-year-old businessman, believed to be the key suspect in the rape of a 14-year-girl from Lawas in Limbang in April this year.
    Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief, Datuk Dev Kumar said the suspect was nabbed by the Lawas CID at 2.10pm today after he turned himself at the Lawas police station and would be produced in court tomorrow for a remand order application.
    "The man is suspected to have paid money to have sex with the victim in a hotel," he said in a statement, here, today.
    He said the two women suspects, the 30-year-old mother of the victim and a 45-year old karaoke outlet owner, would be charged at 9am tomorrow at the Lawas District Office.
    As of today, four suspects are in police custody, including a 23-year old man who was arrested on Tuesday and is under remand for seven days to assist in the police investigation. — Bernama
