Robbery: Jail, whipping for dispatch rider

KUALA LUMPUR: A dispatch rider was sentenced to eight years' jail and two strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court here today after he was found guilty of robbery.
Judge Shamsudin Abdullah handed down the sentence on Noohisham Saifful Mohd, 25, after finding that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubts against the prosecution's case.
Noorhisham was charged with another person still at large with robbing a businesswoman, Kee Siok Kuen, 38, of her handbag at Taman Sejahtera here at 7.15 pm on Dec 1 last year.
He was also sentenced to three years' jail for causing hurt on a security guard, Ravinder Kurma, 27, of Indian nationality, at the same place, time and date.
He was ordered to serve the jail sentences concurrently from today.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurakmal Farhan Aziz prosecuted, while Noorhisham was represented by lawyer M. Mathavan. — Bernama
