Secularism may continue to influence Pakatan Harapan - Annuar

KOTA BARU: The DAP's obvious domination in Pakatan Harapan may mean that secularism will continue to influence the opposition coalition, says Umno Information chief, Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said the DAP was a dominant party in the coalition and could influence its policies.
"It is DAP which will influence policies in the coalition and will be obeyed by the other parties. The posts are just window-dressing because political power is held by whoever controls the most people in the coalition.
"We cannot deny that even though the opposition leader is PKR, even though its chairman is (former prime minister) Tun Dr Mahathir (Mohamad), it is DAP that is in control," he told reporters after a dialogue programme for education offices in the Kota Bharu district here today.
The dialogue was also attended by Umno Information Officer Datuk Shamsul Najmi Shamsuddin and more than 600 administrators and teachers.

Meanwhile, commenting on the estimated 60,000 teachers who were still not registered as voters, Annuar said if this was true, it was very unfortunate as teachers were often emulated by the public.
He said this was probably because many people were in their comfort zone and felt it was sufficient that others voted.
"This is very wrong and they should look at their responsibility as Muslims in shaping the nation. We may lose everything if we do not register as voters and do not vote," he added.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid had earlier said as many as 365,500 or 86% of 425,000 teachers in the country had registered as voters with the Election Commission and urged the remaining 60,000 or 14% teachers to quickly register as voters. — Bernama
