Two foreign vessels caught stealing sand in Selangor waters - MMEA

    SHAH ALAM: Two foreign vessels were detained by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) for allegedly conducting illegal sand-mining in the Selangor waters yesterday.
    Klang District 4 Maritime director, Captain Abu Zaki Mohammad said the two vessels – GM 1 and Yin Hai 15 – were detained at about 6.2 nautical miles off the Sungai Langat estuary here at 7.15 am.
    "Checks were conducted and found that the vessels were registered in the Republic of Palau. Six crew, including the captains, were detained.
    "All of them are of Chinese nationality and aged between 28 and 50," he said in a statement here today.
    He said the case would be investigated under the Continental Shelf Act 1966. — Bernama
