KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today presented the winner's trophy to Pat Perez of the United States who aced the 2017 CIMB Classic Golf Championship at the TPC Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Kiara here.
Perez, 41, finished with 24 under 264, taking home US$D1.26 million (RM5.3 million).
Najib was greeted on arrival at the golf course by CIMB Group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz Tengku Abdul Aziz and other dignitaries.
Tengku Zafrul Aziz in his speech commended the players for showing great sportsmanship during the four-day event and also praised younger players who showed stellar performance and the ability to compete with the more senior players.
He also said that the CIMB Classic purse, which stood at US$7 million (RM29.44 million) for this year's edition, would be increased to reflect its status as one of Asia's finest golf tournaments. — Bernama
