UPNM cadet murder case for mention on Nov 10

KUALA LUMPUR: The case involving six students of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) who were charged in connection with the death of their university mate, Navy cadet officer Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain, has been fixed for mention at the High Court on Nov 10.
Senior Assistant Registrar Nur Ain Mustapa set the date in chambers when the matter came up for case management in the presence of deputy public prosecutor Nurakmal Farhan Aziz , who appeared for the prosecution, and lawyers Mohd Fadly Hashim, Zamri Idrus, Joshua Tay and Nurul Syuhada Abdullah, representing all the accused.
The six accused are Muhammad Akmal Zuhairi Azmal, Muhammad Azamuddin Mad Sofi, Muhammad Najib Mohd Razi, Muhammad Afif Najmudin Azahat, Mohamad Shobirin Sabri and Abdoul Hakeem Mohd Ali, all aged 21.
Five of them, Muhammad Akmal Zuhairi, Muhammad Azamuddin, Muhammad Najib, Muhammad Afif Najmudin and Mohamad Shobirin are jointly charged with murdering Zulfarhan Osman, 21, in room 04-10, Jebat hostel block, UPNM, Kem Perdana Sungai Besi, Cheras here, between 4.45am and 5.45am on May 22, 2017.
They are charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same law, and face the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

Abdoul Hakeem is charged with abetting the five accused in the murder at the same place, time and date, under Section 109 of the Penal Code, read with Section 302 of the same Code, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
He is charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 302 of the same Code, and faces the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Zulfarhan Osman died at the Serdang Hospital on June 1 this year after he was allegedly abused over a laptop theft. — Bernama
