12 detained under operation 'Dadu Khas'

TELUK INTAN: Police detained 12 local men believed to be involved in illegal gambling activity in a raid as part of the 'Dadu Khas' operation, on a house at Jalan Chui Chak, Langkap, here last Friday.
Hilir Perak district police chief ACP Mohd Marzukhi Mohd Mokhtar said the suspects, aged between 20 and 57, were arrested while indulging in online gambling at about 4pm.
He said the police seized 11 laptops, 11 computer mice, 11 laptop battery chargers, a mobile phone, and RM260 cash.
"The gambling activity had only begun operations two days before the raid. The police are also investigating the gambling activity organiser," he said in a press conference, here today.
He said the suspects were remanded for four days since Oct 14 and the case was being investigated under Section 4B (a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
Meanwhile, Mohd Marzukhi said the police detained a local man believed to be a drug pusher and seized 44.35 grams of various types of drugs in a house in Sungai Manik, here, last Friday.
He said the suspect in his 20s, was tested positive for methamphetamine and the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — Bernama
