KANGAR: The Perlis Malay Customs and Islamic Religious Council (MAIPS) has built five mosques and dozens of wells in the Rohingya refugee camp in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.
The Mufti of Perlis, Associate Prof Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, said the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail who visited the camp, officiated the opening of the mosques last night.
According to the latest posting on his Facebook account, Asri said he was overwhelmed by the reception from the refugees who turned up in large numbers to pray in the Faizuddin Perlis Mosque at the camp.
Asri was part of the entourage which accompanied the Raja Muda, who is also MAIPS president, on the two-day visit.
He said the contributions given to the refugees included food, and there are plans to provide assistance to the hospital in Cox's Bazar. — Bernama
