Malaysia to fight for every point for the final Asia Cup slot

KUALA LUMPUR: Every goal and every point counts for Malaysia in the Hockey Asia Cup Super Four matches, to ensure the country stays as one of the top two teams for a slot in the final.
National hockey coach Stephen Van Huizen said there was no easy path for the Malaysian Tigers especially in the second match against India.
"It is a back-to-back game, so (there is) not much time to recover for the second match against India.
Pakistan and South Korea are really trying their best to also get in the finals and get ahead of us.
"We have to win and get the three points because I expect the three games will be close. India are favourites for the finals so it leaves only one spot for us to fight," he said via WhatsApp.
According to the Asia Cup format, the top two teams at the group stage will advance to the Super Four group while the two bottom teams will play in the group for the fifth to eighth placing.
The Super Fours, Malaysia, Pakistan, India and South Korea, will play three group matches and the top two will progress to the final. — Bernama
