Test on tsunami warning systems to be carried out in Penang and Sabah today

GEORGE TOWN: Those residing off the coast of Penang island and Sandakan, in Sabah, should not be alarmed if they encounter any tsunami siren today.
In a social media (Facebook) posting by Malaysia Meterological Department today, it said that a test on the tsunami warning systems will be carried out from 9am to 5pm in the evening today.
The places involved are Sandakan, Kota Lama, Persiaran Gurney, Tanjong Tokong and Tanjong Bungah.
It urged residents there not to panic as it is just a test, adding the department will update from time to time if there are any changes on the schedule.
