KLANG: A wedding planner was charged in the magistrate's court here today with two counts of cheating a client, involving RM7,000 in deposit, for a wedding package.
However, Zurina Ahmad Jundi, 34, of 'Zurin Jundi' wedding planner, pleaded not guilty to both charges before Magistrate Rozianti Mohamed Hanaphi.
She was charged with deceiving Zainon Ali, 54, into believing that she had offered a wedding package and dishonestly induced the woman to hand over RM5,000 through the automated teller machine (ATM) and another RM2,000 in cash as deposit for the service.
Zurina, from Jalan Kota Raja here, was charged with committing the offences at a bank in Port Klang here and at Section 7 Commercial Centre, Shah Alam, on March 16 and June 17 this year.
She was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code and faced an imprisonment for up to 10 years, with whipping, and is liable to fine, if found guilty.

Deputy public prosecutor Amira Abdul Aziz, who prosecuted, requested bail at RM10,000 on both charges, but Zurina, who was unrepresented, requested for the bail amount to be reduced as she was in the process of selling her wares at her shop.
Rozianti then allowed Zurian to be released on a bail of RM8,000 in one surety on both charges. She also set Nov 16 for mention for appointment of counsel and submission of documents. — Bernama
