ALOR STAR: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will bring three private member's bills to the Parliament in an effort to strengthen national unity.
Amanah vice-president Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa, who is also Parit Buntar member of Parliament, said the three bills were Racial and Religious Hate Crime Bill, Equality Bill and National Harmony Commission Bill.
Mujahid said he had submitted the private motion to the Parliament early this month, namely 14 days before the Dewan Rakyat sitting was scheduled to begin tomorrow.
The three bills are needed to tackle the problem of racial and religious sensitivities proactively, he told reporters when met at the last day of Amanah's three-day National Convention 2017 here today.
Meanwhile, Amanah delegate from Terengganu Roslan Ismail reminded all parties not to make religion a tool to scare people in order to attract more voters to join politics.
Another delegate from Kedah Ridzwan Abu Bakar said that a party should act as a protector to the people so that their voices could be heard. — Bernama
