KUALA LUMPUR: The National Association of Patriots (PPK) is hoping that the government would re-consider providing pension for the veterans who had served in the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Budget 2018.
Its president, Brig Gen (Rtd) Datuk Mohd Arshad Raji, said regardless of their ranks, they should be given pension when they leave the service.
"Take into account the length of their service because majority of the veterans, especially those in other ranks, are in need of help," he said in a statement, here, today.
Mohd Arshad said the pension rate of the older retirees should also be at par with the new retirees.
"Needless to say, this is because of the difference in pay scale over time," he said.

Other than that, he said the association also hoped that the government could provide a special RM10 annual pass on all public rail and road transport system for them to reduce their burden due to the rising transportation cost.
PPK also hoped that the government could provide food stamp of RM100 a month for hardcore poor veterans, as well as discount on electricity and water bills based on their household income.
He said PPK was also of the view that government linked companies should allocate at least 10% of its human resources to army veterans and ex-policemen below the age of 60. — Bernama
