GEORGE TOWN: Despite being buried alive in the landslide in Lengkok Lembah Permai, Tanjung Bungah here yesterday, the face of Erwin Salis, 35, was the least affected, thus making it easy for his family members to identify his body.
His sister, Muslifah Salis, 58, said besides a minor bleeding from the nose, no other injury was visible on Erwin's face.
"It was so sad to see his body like that, but his face was the least affected. I know right away that it was him," she told Bernama when met at the Penang Hospital Forensic Department here today.
Although deeply saddened by the incident, Muslifah said she and the whole family accepted her brother's death as fate.
"He was the 15th child in our large family and had been a cheerful and friendly person.
"He had worked in Malaysia for six years and he had a wife and two children who live in East Java, Indonesia.
The last time I met him was at last year's Aidilfitri in Gombak, Selangor," said Muslifah, adding that Erwin's body would be laid to rest in Gombak.

Meanwhile, Sharif Johari, 65, the father of another victim, Hosrin, 33, whose body was found at 11.31 am yesterday, said his son had been working in Penang for the past seven years.
"When I was informed about the incident, I don't think that Hosrin would be one of the victims. That is why I have to come here from Kuala Lumpur to identify the body," said Sharif, who works at a hotel in the nation's capital.
Sharif said the last time he met his son was four years ago during Aidilfitri when Hosrin returned to Medan to meet his family.
"After the identification process is completed, they will begin the repatriation process, Hosrin's body is expected to arrive in Indonesia tomorrow morning," he said, while holding back tears.
Eleven foreign construction workers were buried alive following the 8.57am landslide at an affordable housing construction site yesterday.
As of this afternoon, seven bodies have been found. The operation to find four more victims is actively underway. — Bernama
