APM receives lorries and boats to boost capabilities

TAWAU: The Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) has received 98 new assets to strengthen its rescue operations capability and to face natural disasters nationwide.
APM deputy director-general (Operations) Roslan Wahab said the assets comprised 61 lorries (five-ton each), 14 boats (9.8m long) and 23 Sealegs Amphibious Craft.
"We have received some of the assets and expect to get the rest within this year and surely the increase in assets will greatly assist our operations.
"Currently, several assets are in the process of procurement including the Tatra truck, for next year," he said.
He said this to reporters after closing the Sabah Community College National Civil Defence Institute (PISPA) Trainers Programme here today. — Bernama
