Assistant lorry driver killed after being hit by car

LAHAD DATU: An assistant lorry driver was killed after being hit by a Perodua Myvi car at Jalan POIC Baru Lahad Datu-Tungku near here last night.
Lahad Datu district police chief ACP Hamzah Ahmad said in the 8.20pm incident, the victim, Amir Abdullah, died at the scene.
"Initial investigations revealed that the woman driver of a Myvi car was traveling from Sandakan and heading toward POIC Lahad Datu when she hit the victim on the dark road," he said in a statement today.
"The victim was hit by the car as he was alighting from the lorry on the road shoulder," said Hamzah adding that the driver was unhurt and the police would continue with the investigations. — Bernama
