Malaysia grabs gold and silver at 19th Asian Youth Bowling Championship

KUALA LUMPUR: The national youth bowling squad started excellently at the 19th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships, which began at the Coronado Lanes Starmall Edsa, in the Philippines today.
The Malaysian camp turned cheerful when Tun Ameerul Luqman Al-Hakim won the first gold medal in the men's singles youth event after amassing 1,370 pinfalls.
The silver medal went to Takumi Hagasaki from Japan with 1,298 pinfalls, while the bronze medal was won by Ahmed Al Awadhi from Bahrain who amassed 1,287 pinfalls.
Earlier in the women's youth category, Nur Amirah Auni Azman was only trailing by nine pins behind Kim Ye Sol from South Korea, who had 1,330 pinfalls, and had to be content with the silver medal.
The bronze went to Shion Izumune from Japan who had 1,299 pinfalls.
The competition continues tomorrow with the doubles events for both categories. — Bernama
