Police launch manhunt for accused who escaped

KUCHING: The Kuching police have launched a manhunt for an accused person who escaped from police custody in an incident at about 1.30pm today.
Kuching deputy district police chief Supt Abang Junaidi Abang Anuar said Zulkipli Morni, 34, was with a few other detainees waiting for a vehicle to be sent to the Puncak Borneo Prison.
Zulkipli Morni was believed to have fled from custody by removing the handcuff and then ran towards the gate of the Kuching police station, before getting into a white Proton Iswara car which sped of towards the main road, he said in a statement here today.
He said Zulkipli was clad in a maroon shirt and blue jeans when he escaped. — Bernama
