BANGI: The goverment will not recognise the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in Malaysia as the culture is inapproprate to be applied here, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
He added such movement must be rejected as it was against the religious and cultural practice of Malaysians.
He questioned why some groups were so quick in accepting negative values introduced in the West to be brought into the coutry.
"We cannot import western culture, especially LGBT, into our country ... I believe there are other positive values that can be brought here," he said.
"Why must it be the negative values, which are made under the name of freedom of opinion, freedom of expression and human rights?"
"Our country must be molded according to the country's suitability and requirements," he said at a National Transformation 2050 (TN50) dialogue at Universiti Putra Malaysia today.
