BFood CEO Sydney Quays is Eminent Leader at ACES

SINGAPORE: Berjaya Food Bhd CEO Sydney Quays (pix) emerged as the year’s only Eminent Leaders in Asia category winner last night at the Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability Awards (ACES) here.
Quays bagged the award for his role in developing coffee giant Starbucks in the Malaysian market. Quays is a pioneer with Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Company Sdn Bhd (BStarbucks) and was instrumental in the 1998 establishment of the Starbucks brand in Malaysia. He now oversees the overall operational management and strategy for BStarbucks and Berjaya Food Supreme Sdn Bhd.
BStarbucks is also a distinguished winner under the Top Companies to Work for in Asia category.
The ACES recognises successful companies and individuals in Asia across two main domains; leadership and corporate social responsibility. The awards recognise the achievements of local and multinational businesses for their contributions to the communities in which they do business in, as well as society, the environment and the world at large.
A total of 193 nominees and 41 winners were present at the awards.
The ACES Awards is organised by the MORS Group whose mission is to assist companies, corporate leaders and industrialists to share a platform to exhibit leadership and sustainability excellence.
Other Malaysian winners include Pharmaniaga Bhd managing director and executive director Datuk Farshila Emran (Woman Entrepreneur of the Year), LBS Bina Group Bhd group managing director Tan Sri Lim Hock San and A Schulman Plastics (M) Sdn Bhd managing director Khoo Kay Khoon (Outstanding Leaders in Asia), Rakyat Holdings Sdn Bhd group CEO Datuk Syed Abdul Aziz Syed Hassan and Talk Focus Sdn Bhd CEO & president Datuk Seri Dr Eric Yap (Top SMEs in Asia).
Pharmaniaga is also a winner for the Top Companies in Asia award.
