Fatal accident for motorcyclist on Jalan Kuching

    KUALA LUMPUR: A motorcyclist was killed while two others were injured in an accident involving three motorcycles and a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle along Jalan Kuching here today.
    City Traffic Investigation department chief ACP Nadzri Hussain said the accident occurred at around 9am along Jalan Kuching near the Segambut roundabout.
    "Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased, identified as Mohd Hafiz Zainan, 29, from Batu Caves in Selangor was trying to overtake two other motorcycles. But he rammed into the rear of the 4WD," he said in a statement.
    Nadzri said all those involved were travelling towards the city at the time of the incident.
    "The other two motorcyclists and a pillion rider suffered multiple injuries after they crashed into the fallen motorcycle," he added.
    The body of the deceased motorcyclist was sent to the Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a postmortem.
    Investigations revealed that the road conditions were dry and traffic was flowing smoothly when the accident occurred.
    The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
    Nadzri added that police have requested a chemical and Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centres (Puspakom) report to facilitate investigations into the case.
