PUTRAJAYA: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam wants the Ministry of Health (MOH) staff to play their role as the ministry's ambassadors by disseminating positive information and providing clarification to correct unverified information on MOH on social media.
He cited inaccurate information pertaining to MOH on social media claiming government hospitals reused disposal medical devises due to lack of funds.
"Accurate information and image on MOH is vital so that the people understand, not feel worried, scared or threatened to seek treatment at MOH hospitals.
"If we use recycled items it must adhere to the standard set by the medical specialists and there is a prescribed protocol such as the need to sterilise them first," he said at a gathering with the ministry's staff at MOH headquarters here today.
At the event, Dr Subramaniam also drew attention to the use of generic drugs that are also being purchased by developed countries such as the United States.
"There is nothing wrong with using generic drugs if it is of high quality. Patented drugs can only treat 10 patients but generic drugs can treat 100 patients," he added. — Bernama
