KANGAR: Two young mothers are among six individuals tested positive for drug and detained by the Perlis National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) during an anti-drug operation dubbed Ops Cegah in several villages here ended early this morning.
Perlis AADK director Azizah Ahmad said the operation, which began at 8pm last night, targeted on individuals with warrants and complaints lodged against them.
"Four men and two women aged between 15 and 50 were tested positive for Methamphetamine. The two women are sisters and they were picked up at their home in Kampung Syed Omar, along with another man, who also lives in the village.
"The elder sister, aged 27, has a four-year-old son, while the younger sister, aged 24, has a seven-year-old daughter, three-year-old son and three-month-old baby," she told reporters here.
She said initial investigation found that the elder sister had taken drugs over the past three years together with her husband, but during the operation, the man was not home.

Azizah said the younger sister was said to be under duress following a divorce last week and had gotten involved in drugs after seeing her sister, brother-in-law and their friends taking the prohibited substance at their home, which was turned into a drug den.
She said the AADK had to take the three-month-old baby with the mother to the AADK detention centre as the infant was still breastfeeding, while the other children were left with her ex-husband.
Those detained had also been remanded for a week to facilitate further investigation, she said.
Azizah also called on the public with information on drug-related activities to channel the activities to the AADK by calling 04-9764603 or 04-9770268. — Bernama
