BUDGET 2018 : UEM Group, EPF says toll collection abolishment came about after series of discussions with government

    PETALING JAYA: UEM Group Bhd and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) said the abolishment of the toll collections at Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasau in Selangor and Bukit Kayu Hitam in Kedah, follows a series of discussions held between the government, the group as well as EPF.
    UEM and EPF are major shareholders of PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS).
    "UEM Group will continue to safeguard the highway that forms the backbone of Peninsula Malaysia, guide management of PLUS to preserve as well as improve its financial viability and at the same time continue to be conscious of rakyat's welfare and needs which includes providing a well maintained, safe highway and pleasant user experience.
    "As a major investor, the EPF is committed to sustainable returns to our members while delivering value to the people and all highway users," the two said in a joint statement.
