KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians must continue to support government efforts to achieve the developed nation's status that is competitive as outlined in the 2050 National Transformation (TN50) policy, said Malaysian Association of Inland Revenue Alumni (AIRA) president Datuk Mohammad Sait Ahmad.
He said the budget presented by the government continued to stress on the aspect of national development without neglecting the people's welfare.
"This is clearly seen through the numerous incentives, promotions and tax exemptions which had been announced," he said in a statement here today.
Last Friday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak tabled the 2018 Budget at the Dewan Rakyat with a total allocation of RM280.25 billion.
Meanwhile, he said AIRA was an association that united former officers and staff of the Malaysian Inland Revenue Board (LHDNM) to be involved in the studies and matters concerning taxes.
AIRA also developed a cooperative network with the LHDNM in spreading an understanding on taxation among the general public besides raising the level of tax compliance in Malaysia.
Among the initiatives carried out between LHDNM and AIRA was in the field of tax education through seminars and briefings on taxation to the target groups. — Bernama
