Universities need to grow in tandem with Industrial Revolution 4.0

ARAU: Universities need to adapt and grow so as to be in tandem with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 involving advanced digital automation technology, says the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
According to him, the Industrial Revolution 4.0 scenario would be full of new challenges, hence requiring all parties especially universities to effect changes so as to remain relevant and competitive.
"New Internet such as the Internet of Things (IoT), animation, analysis, big data, simulation, robotic system integration and cloud (computing), and various others will spur progress of the modern world's landscape."
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said this at the fifth session of the 12th convocation ceremony of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) at its main campus in Pauh Putra, here, today.
The Perlis Raja Muda. who is also the chancellor of UniMAP, said the university's initiative of offering engineering technology courses which emphasised on technical and practical skills with the benefit of industry facilities, was commendable.

"I am confident that UniMAP will implement required measures to remain relevant in order to meet current needs so that its graduates' employability will continue to rise," he said.
At the session, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin presented scrolls to 440 recipients of the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Honours) in various fields.
Earlier, as chairman of Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra, he handed out a mock cheque for RM10,000 from the royal foundation for Perpustakaan Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra UniMAP. — Bernama
