KUALA LUMPUR: The government is targeting to sell about 100 products including branded items at the 1Malaysia People's Shops 2.0 (KR1M 2.0).
Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the target was expected to be attained through the National Blue Ocean Strategy through a collaboration with multinational, small and medium-scale companies.
At least 50 products which will be sold at KR1M 2.0 are with the cooperation of multinational companies like Nestle and Coca-Cola.
Hamzah said this in the Dewan Rakyat today when replying to a question from Datuk Dr Abd Latiff Ahmad (BN-Mersing) who wanted the government's assurance that KR1M 2.0 would offer more products at lower prices than the market.
He said the first phase of KR1M 2.0 would focus on four essential items, namely rice, sugar, cooking oil and flour that would be sold cheaper than market price.
The ministry is targeting 3,000 KR1M premises in 2018. — Bernama
