KUALA LUMPUR: Two Form One students went missing after falling into a monsoon drain and being swept away by the strong current during heavy rain in Taman Yarl near Jalan Klang Lama here, this afternoon.
Brickfields district police chief ACP Roslan Khalid said initial investigations revealed that Muhammad Shafiq Akmal Amran and Rafiuddin Fakhrullah Ridzuan, both 13, along with another boy were seen crossing the drain after school at about 3pm.
"Both Muhammad Shafiq and Rafiuddin slipped and fell into the drain and were quickly swept away by the strong current, while the other boy managed to cross over by clinging to the edge of the drain before informing the school authority about the incident," he told reporters here tonight.
Roslan said the search and rescue operation (SAR) for the two boys was still ongoing. — Bernama
