PUTRAJAYA: The Human Resource Ministry viewed seriously the arrest of an officer of the Johor Occupational Safety and Health Department (DOSH) for alleged corruption by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) .
In a statement issued today, the ministry said although it was an isolated case, it would ensure all officers in departments and agencies under the ministry abided by its regulations and carried out enforcement with integrity.
The MACC today confirmed the arrest of a 37-year-old man at a hotel in Johor at 2.40pm yesterday on suspicion of soliciting and accepting RM30,000 from a project manager of a petroleum engineering company as an inducement for him not to take action against the company for installing a grip hoist machine without permission from the Johor DOSH.
The ministry said it had conducted various programmes to boost the integrity of its officers including organising briefings by the MACC and signing the Corruption-Free Pledge with the commission.
The ministry also applied the concept of corruption risk management in the standard operating procedures of its departments and agencies.
"The Human Resource Ministry is also committed and will always cooperate with all parties involved to improve existing procedures and also to maintain integrity and the delivery system of the civil service," it said. — Bernama
