ISKANDAR PUTERI: Legoland Malaysia Resort will be the first Legoland park in the world to launch the Lego virtual reality (VR) roller coaster this Nov 22.
Its general manager Kurt Stocks said the new attraction was a transformation of the existing roller coaster game known as Project-X to a more technologically advanced roller coaster with the use of a headset.
"Passengers who ride on the Great LEGO Race (VR Coaster) will see and experience the Lego animated world racing around them when they put on the headset during the unique roller coaster journey.
"The cost of the project cannot be announced yet but we can say that more new games will be introduced in the theme park for the whole family," he told reporters at the theme park today.
Earlier, a total of 30 local and international media practitioners were given the opportunity to ride on the roller coaster to get a feel of the VR Coaster and see what goes on behind the scene.

Also present were global marketing director Paul Harvey, sales and marketing director Thila Munusamy, Merlin Magic Making project leader Matt Philips and marketing head Daphne Tan.
Kurt said that Legoland Malaysia Resort started work on the 18-metre high VR Coaster two months ago adding that this new experience was introduced in collaboration with Merlin Magic Making.
Since its opening in 2012, Legoland Malaysia had consistently been adding new attractions and experiences to visitors each year including introducing the Water Theme Park, Legoland Hotel, Project-X roller coaster, Ninja Go and Star Wars.
Meanwhile, local media representative Wan Eizzul Islam, 24, said he was proud that Malaysia was the first country in the world to launch an animated roller coaster.
"I feel honoured to be among the first few to be given the opportunity to experience the VR Coaster which is suitable for adults and children," he said. — Bernama
