Johor police bust drug syndicate, seize narcotics worth RM32.4m

JOHOR BARU: Police scored a major success with the arrest of eight suspects believed to be members of an international drug syndicate, including a qualified chemist, and seizure of RM32.4 million worth of drugs.
The suspects were detained in six raids carried out in the Masai and Permas Jaya areas in Johor on Oct 31.
A Singaporean man and a Vietnamese lady were among the suspects, while the rest were local men.
Police also crippled an ecstasy processing lab in the operation.
The series of raids was conducted by Bukit Aman's Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING) and state police from 1.30am to 7am on Monday.
Federal police narcotics criminal investigation department (NCID) director Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh said it is the biggest haul this year in Johor.
