Shop assistant charged with murdering girlfriend's husband

ROMPIN: A food shop assistant was charged in the Magistrate's Court here today with the murder of his girlfriend's husband last week.
Mohd Hakim Mat Desa, 28, nodded after the charge was read out before Magistrate Nor Ahmeed Fahd Abdullah, but no plea was recorded as the matter comes under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Mohd Hakim, of Felda Keratong 1 Muadzam Shah here, was charged, with another person still at large, with murdering Indonesian Zubir Engku Ibrahim @ M Zubir, 32, at 10.30pm last Oct 24 at a car wash area in Felda Keratong 2, Bandar Tun Razak here.
The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, provides the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Syamsul Kahar Ahmad Nadri, while Mohd Hakim was represented by lawyer Ahmad Daniel Roslan.
The court set Feb 8 next year for mention. — Bernama
