IPOH: There had been no release of surplus water at any of the TNB hydro-power dams in Perak.
State exco for Public Utilities, Infrastructure, Energy and Water Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin, said based on the management report of the Sungai Perak TNB Power Station that was received, the water release carried out was normal and followed the standard operating procedure (SOP).
""The release of water flow is normal and they will update and issue information from time to time. It's just that I call for caution because the current weather situation is bad although the water level at the dam was still far below the danger level," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
At the moment, floods occurred in Lawin and Lenggong in the Hulu Perak district.
Zainol Fadzi clarified that the water level at the Tasik Temenggor Dam in Banding was 239.26m, which was still at the normal level while the water level in Sungai Perak at Kuala Kenderong, Gerik was 111.80m, compared with the critical level of 112.50m.
He gave the assurance that TNB was always ready for certain situations to give information and cooperation to all quarters.
He hoped members of the public would not send out viral news about surplus water releases because the news was not true and would only cause panic among local residents. — Bernama
