KUALA LUMPUR: Central Spine Road (CSR) project, stretching 411km long and connecting Pahang to Kota Bharu, Kelantan will be toll-free, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Deputy Works Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said this would also include Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai Highway, involving a 61.36 km route that was also part of the CSR.
"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), I want to say that the Central Spine Road and the Kota Baru-Kuala Krai Highway will be toll-free," she said during a question and answer session at the Dewan Rakyat today.
She was replying to a supplementary question from Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar (PKR-Tumpat) who wanted to know whether the government planned to impose toll charges upon the completion of the Kota Baru-Kuala Krai Highway.
Responding to a question from Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali (BN-Bagan Serai) on the maintenance of the highway, Rosnah said it would be maintained using allocations from the government, similar to the federal roads.
Rosnah said the Kota Baru-Kuala Krai Highway project was implemented in stages starting from the 10th Malaysia Plan (RMK10).
She said the 1B package (from Pasir Hor to Kadok), stretching seven km, of which the constructions started from April 2014, was expected to be completed in February 2018, while for 2A package (from Kadok to Ketereh) stretching 6.85 km would be completed by November 2018 and the 2B package (Ketereh to Kok Lanas), a 6.2km stretch, had been issued with a letter of acceptance on Nov 3.
"The physical implementation of other project packages are expected to be implemented in stages in RMK11, subject to the approval of the central agencies," she said. — Bernama
