DAP's Central Executive Committee re-election not postponed

KUALA LUMPUR: The re-election of DAP's Central Executive Committee (CEC) will proceed this Sunday as scheduled despite the major flood in Penang.
DAP national publicity secretary Tony Pua said the postponement of party polls were not necessary as it would only be conducted in a day.
"We must proceed with it. (Penang Chief Minister) Lim Guan Eng will also be attending," he told reporters at Parliament.
Continuous rainfall in Penang last week had led to a major flood that crippled the northern state, claiming several lives and causing several thousands to be evacuated from their homes.
DAP had earlier set Nov 12 to conduct the re-election. It is slated to take place at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam.
On July 17, DAP received official notification from RoS regarding the department's order for the party to hold a fresh re-election of its CEC.
The order was issued as RoS had neither accepted nor recognised the election held by DAP on Dec 15, 2012, and the re-election on Sept 29, 2013.
