Kedah flood evacuees down to 299 at noon

SUNGAI PETANI: The number of evacuees in Kedah continued to drop as the situation in the flood-hit areas improved, leaving 299 people at relief centres at noon compared to 342 in the morning.
Kedah Civil Defence Force director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Zul Khairi Shamsuddin said two more relief centres were closed today.
The centres still in operation were those at the Taman Setia Budi hall in Pekula, Kuala Muda District (with 55 evacuees), Kampung Baru Jemerli surau in Merbau Pulas in the Kulim District (31) and the Rakan Sukan hall in Mukim Ayer Puteh in the Pendang District (213), he said.
He said the centres which closed today were the Kampung Sungai Pial hall in Merbok and the Teluk Binu surau in Sidam Kanan. — Bernama
