LUMUT: The Perak Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) has stored more than one metric tonne of frozen Q'fish in preparation for the possible impact brought on by current uncertain weather conditions.
Its director Zarina Abd Latiff said though the supply of fresh fish was still sufficient at the moment, the department was well-prepared for any eventuality.
"The public need not worry because the supply of fish should be sufficient should the weather condition result in a decline in fish supply," she said at the signing of LKIM Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) here today.
At the signing ceremony Zarina called on LKIM employees to fight corruption and abuse of power and to be trustworthy and transparent in conducting their daily tasks.
"LKIM has a heavy responsibility in improving the socio-economic status of the fishing community and as such incentives to fishermen must be prepared according to proper procedures," she said. — Bernama
