Remains of Tunku Deanna laid to rest

KUALA PILAH: The remains of Tunku Datin Deanna Tuanku Munawir, the youngest sibling of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, were buried at Seri Menanti Royal Mausoleum here, at 2.18pm today.
The burial prayers (talqin) were read by Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, the executive imam of Masjid Diraja Tuanku Munawir, Seri Menanti.
Earlier, Deanna's remains were taken to Seri Menanti Royal Mausoleum from the Istana Besar Seri Menanti here, which was fully handled by the 1st Brigade Infantry at Rasah Camp.
Prior to that, about 500 people took part in funeral prayers led by State Mufti, Datuk Mohd Yusof Ahmad at Masjid Diraja Tuanku Munawir, Seri Menanti,
Also accompanying the remains were Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, State Secretary Datuk Seri Mat Ali Hassan and State Assembly Speaker Datuk Dr Awaludin Said.
Among the dignitaries who paid their final respects were Tunku Ampuan Najihah Tunku Besar Burhanuddin , Undang of Johol Datuk Muhamed Abdullah, Tunku Besar Tampin, Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri, Tengku Syarif Bendahara Perlis, Datuk Seri di-Raja Syed Badarudin Jamalullail Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Vice Chancellor, Prof Tan Sri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali and the State Executive Councillors.
Gloom enveloped the royal household, as dignitaries and the people started to throng the palace compound to give the final respects as early as 12.30pm.
Tunku Deanna, 62, passed away at 4.24pm yesterday at Damansara Specialist Hospital, Kuala Lumpur, from diabetes.
She leaves husband, Tengku Datuk Amran Tengku Mohd Yusof, and three children, aged from 34 to 41 years old. — Bernama
