200 families affected by flood in Dengkil

DENGKIL: About 200 families in Dengkil were affected by floods following heavy rain early today.
Among areas affected by the 5.30am downpour were Taman Baiduri, Taman Permata, Taman Kristal, Taman Putra Kondo, Kampung Cemperai and Kampung Revolusi Hijau.
Cyberjaya Fire and Rescue Department chief Izman Adnan said the flood was due to the sudden increase in water level at Sungai Langat, at nearly one metre.
"The flood was due to heavy rain in Hulu Langat since yesterday and it caused water from Sungai Langat to overflow to Dengkil and later, to the housing areas.
"As such, the Dengkil community hall serves as an evacuation centre. For now, the flood waters have receded and the situation is under control.
Nevertheless, we worry in the event of another heavy downpour in the Hulu Langat district," he said when contacted by Bernama today. – Bernama
