KUALA LUMPUR: Until Nov 23, ride-hailing company Grab is offering discounted rides to the people of flood-affected Penang, especially those needing to get to and from school and work.
In a statement, the company said Penangites would only need to key in the promocode GRAB4PG to enjoy RM5 off for 25 rides available on all Grab services in Penang, regardless cash or GrabPay rides.
''We're also calling out for volunteers from within our company as well as drivers from nearby cities to be Grab drivers in Penang from Nov 13 to 17 to help address the demand for rides, considering vehicles have been damaged by the floods,'' said GrabCar and GrabTaxi Non-Klang Valley head Justin Tiew.
To help with the livelihood of drivers, Grab is currently not taking any commissions until further notice from rides generated from Penang, meaning every fare goes back to the drivers' pocket to support their welfare during this period.
The statement said as many drivers and their vehicles were affected by the flooding, Grab would not implement any surge / dynamic pricing until further notice.
''As a company, we want to rally behind the people of Penang because this has equally affected us as much as our colleagues, family and friends from Penang, as well as our drive-partners and passengers,'' noted Tiew. – Bernama
