SANDAKAN: Contractors in the state should take the opportunity provided by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) to improve their work quality of projects implemented, said Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.
He said this was because there were still contractors who failed to complete projects implemented according to specifications and schedule set.
"They should take advantage of seminars or courses and seek guidance from relevant agencies, especially CIDB to improve their work quality.
"We must be responsible because if a project is not completed on schedule and fails to comply with the prescribed quality, it will be detrimental to the people and government," he said when opening the Contractor Development Seminar, CIDB Office, Sandakan branch and handing over of Build Brigade project here today.
Musa, who also states Finance Minister, said it was important that the Public Works Department and CIDB provide guidance to contractors so that they could improve the quality of work.
He added the federal government had provided big allocations for the implementation of many development projects in Sabah and contractors, with a good record in completing a project, would have a good chance of obtaining them. – Bernama
