No Malaysians in quake-hit Iran-Iraq border area: Foreign Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR: No Malaysians were reported to be in the area when a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck the Iran-Iraq border near Iran's Kermanshah province, 680km west of Tehran on Sunday.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said this was based on information relayed by the Malaysian embassy in the Iranian capital.
"The government and people of Malaysia express their condolences and sympathy to the family members of the victims," it said.
The ministry, through the Malaysian mission in Tehran, would continue to monitor developments related to the incident, the ministry said.
It was reported that the death toll had passed 300 and thousands of others were injured following the powerful temblor. — Bernama
