Ringgit opens higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar on fresh buying interest, said a dealer.

At 9.01am, the local unit stood at 4.1830/1860 against the greenback from Tuesday's close of 4.1925/1955.
Investors were, however, cautious awaiting the release of US consumer price data due later today.
Against a basket of other major currencies, the ringgit was traded mostly lower.
It rose against the Singapore dollar to 3.0760/0791 from 3.0793/0824 on Tuesday but declined against the Japanese yen to 3.6877/6910 from 3.6847/6884 yesterday.
The local unit fell against the euro to 4.9309/9349 from 4.9119/9171 and eased against the British pound to 5.4990/5046 from Tuesday's 5.4901/4957. — Bernama
