Quran printing centre in Putrajaya to be completed by year end

KUALA LUMPUR: Kompleks Nasyrul Quran, the Quran printing centre in Putrajaya, is due to be completed on Dec 31 this year, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said the first phase of the project has been completed and its operations were officiated on June 13 by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"The project is on a 2.23-hectare land in Precinct 14 which was provided by Putrajaya Corporation, and construction began on April 15 last year. Under the first phase, the factory has 14 printing machines and printing works has begun. There have already been 275,000 orders for Quran and other publications.
"The second phase involves the construction of offices, galleries and main halls. The construction work is 78.4 percent completed. Going by the current progress, construction work is expected to be completed by Dec 31," he said in his reply to a question from Ahmad Baihaki Atiqullah (PAS-Kubang Kerian) on the progress of the Quran printing centre which was announced together with the approval for a RM30 million budget in 2015.
Jamil Khir said the complex was the initiative of the initiative of the government together with Yayasan Restu as announced in the Budget 2015.
Construction of the complex is being monitored by an honorary committee of trustees comprising the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), Finance Ministry, Putrajaya Corporation, Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), with Yayasan Restu as the secretariat. – Bernama
