Higher fuel prices due to conflicts in Western Asia
SELAMA: Fuel prices in the local market have increased due to conflicts in the West Asian region, says Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
The prices would drop once the world market was more stable, he told reporters after a feast at Felda Ijok near here, today.
Hamzah, who is also Larut MP, said the increase in fuel prices over the last two weeks, which had put the current price at RM2.38, was still the lowest among ASEAN countries and placed Malaysia in the list of 20 countries with the lowest fuel prices.
"What we set (fuel price) is not burdensome to the people, and everything is done in accordance to the world market, and the government also takes various measures, including the granting of subsidies," he said. — Bernama
