PETALING JAYA: Police have detained two Pakistani men who were believed to have duped a Nigerian man of RM56,500.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the suspects were detained in front of a bank at SS 2 here last Wednesday after a report was lodged by the victim.
He said following investigations, it was found that the suspects had produced false documents for renewal of study visa, purportedly issued by the Home Ministry.
"The Nigerian man had wanted to renew his study visa and paid RM 46,500 to the suspects who claimed they could produce the letter from the Home Ministry and had asked for another RM10,000.
"The victim felt cheated and lodged a police report," he told a media conference here today.
He said the suspects, both in their 20s, would be in remand until Nov 21. — Bernama
