KUALA LUMPUR: Individuals who issued statements, or whose actions humiliate and slander Islam are not only prosecuted in court, but they also faced action by the Islamic religious institution, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.
He cited the case involving 'Raja Bomoh' Ibrahim Mat Zin, who was required by the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council to attend religious classes.
"In the case of Siti Kassim, action has been taken by the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department. The investigation paper has been opened and the person concerned has been called," he said in response to a question raised by a participant at a convention on Empowering the Ummah Agenda, 3.0 here today.
Jamil Khir was a member of the panel for the religious cluster at the convention.
The participant wanted to know whether action had been taken by the government against Siti Kassim, whose real name is Siti Zabedah Kasim, who was reported often making statements which insulted Islam. — Bernama
