JOHOR BARU: The sessions court sentenced five youths to 15 years in jail for the gang-rape of a secondary school student in 2015.
The youths started sobbing in the dock when Sessions Judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir passed the sentence.
Muhammad Nuzul Ikhram Nurallail, 21, Mohamad Ridzuan Mohd Asri, 21, Muhammad Saiful Fauzi, 20, Muhammad Azlan Md Lazan, 21, and a 16-year-old were convicted of raping the 15-year-old victim in a public toilet at Setia Tropica at about 2am on Sept 30, 2015.
Based on the facts of the case, the victim was waiting near a fast food restaurant at Stulang Laut at about 12am, when the second accused, Mohamad Ridzuan approached her on a motorcycle.

Mohamad Ridzuan however took her to a public toilet in Setia Tropika, where he and his friends took turns to rape her. They stripped off her clothes before fleeing the scene.
The victim found a gunny sack from a rubbish bin to cover herself and sought help from a passer-by.
They were eventually arrested on Nov 29.
The youths were charged under Section 375B of the Penal Code for gang rape.
In passing sentence, Mohd Fauzi said the prosecution had proven the case beyond a reasonable doubt and ordered their jail term to begin from the date of arrest.
Sixteen prosecution witnesses were called to testify during the course of trial.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Suhaili Sapun prosecuted, while the youths were represented by counsel Hussein Othman.
